In regards to gay Koreans being open, in my experience the older guys I dated (I am now 29 and arrived in Korea at 26, so I’m saying my age or a couple years older) were much more comfortable with their sexuality and some were open with their families. The younger ones were much more closeted and hesitant. I got irritated with younger guys and swore them off for dating… until I met my boyfriend, but he’s not Korean (Asian though). I also found the guys that had spent time abroad to be much more comfortable with themselves.
Every guy and everyone’s experiences are different. I’m not flaming or über-flamboyant, but I don’t hide my sexuality, and being with someone who was confident and comfortable was important to me.
